Prime Step serves the Kenner and Metairie community as a daycare facility and learning center. Our main objective is to provide a positive atmosphere, which promotes the social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth of children to encourage a lifelong commitment to learning. We have happily provided a loving environment and personalized care for more than 27 years! Developmentally appropriate activities, experiences, and curriculum are provided daily. Our schedule and curriculum includes large and small group interactions geared towards building social awareness and teaching cooperation, listening, sharing, and more. We also carefully select activities that stimulate cognitive growth and creativity. With two recesses a day and numerous outdoor activities, our students are able to recharge their bodies and minds while also developing large and small motor skills.
Our toddler curriculum focuses on enhancing the simple joys of childhood while nurturing curiosity and development through exploration. In this curriculum we aim to teach child responsibility, support self-care, and expand vocabulary and cognition. Our 3 and 4 year old programs have been chosen to ensure an early introduction to advanced coursework such as phonics, writing, math and more. Our curriculum develops confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills by featuring exploration and discovery as a way of learning.
Our staff is highly qualified with years of experience. They are required to have a minimum of 18 hours of training per year in child development, and are equipped with First Aid and CPR training. The majority of our teachers have or are working towards their CDA credentials. We pride ourselves on having a cleanly facility, video surveillance throughout the entire school, and phones in every classroom for which parents are able to directly contact their child’s teachers.
We provide summer camp as well! We offer a variety of appropriate activities that not only engage campers and create a fun atmosphere, but also continue to teach by promoting socialization and purposeful play. We believe field trips are an integral part of our curriculum. These may include a trip to the Children’s Museum, the Audubon Zoo, the Audubon Aquarium, Bowling, and more.
