Mardi Gras, Spring & The Camps That They Bring

Laissez les bon temps rouler, y’all!  Is your house decked out in purple, green, and gold? Have you eaten plenty of king cake? Have you lined up child care for Mardi Gras week???

If you haven’t done that last thing, we’ve got you covered. There are multiple Mardi Gras camp options on both shores, and we can even help you get a jumpstart on some spring break camps, as well!

Adventure Quest Laser Tag (Harahan)

March 4, 6-8; 7:30am-5:30pm

Campers, ages 5-12, will blast through the ancient Mayan ruins in laser tag, crash through the jungle in our bumper cars, and explore the ancient temple in a round of mini golf, but we’ll also provide many other games and activities for them to connect and grow. Spring Break Camp is April 15-19.


Audubon Zoo (Uptown)

March 6-8; 9am – 3pm (before and after care available)

Pre-K-4th grade. Campers will get close-up encounters with the zoo’s animal ambassadors, tour behind the scenes, and spend time outdoors in free play. Each day is full of animal exploration, scientific investigation, arts and crafts, and more.


Art Time (Mandeville)

March 6-8

Kids will spend their time creating amazing works of art in a positive, comfortable environment. Spring break camps is April 24-26. Call or visit website for updated times and other details:


Brushworks Academy of Art (Covington)

March 6 & 7; 9am-noon

Campers ages 5-10 will participate take home 1-2 finished projects per day. Snacks & drinks are provided for a short break while watching a family-friendly movies. No previous art experience required. Spring break camp is April 22-25.


Culinary Kids Northshore (Mandeville)

March 6-8; 9am-3pm (before and after care available)

Kids, ages 5-12, participating in this camp will get to cook meals and dessert, plus enjoy crafts and games. Spring Break Camp is scheduled for April 22-26.


Jewish Community Center (Metairie & Uptown)

March 6-8; 9am – 3pm (before and after care available)

This camp keeps kids ages K-5th grade busy playing games and sports, making springtime crafts, hanging out with friends, and meeting new friends. Spring break camp at the Metairie location is April 22-24; Uptown Spring Break is for Pre-K to 5th grade, April 22-26.


Louisiana Children’s Museum (CBD)

March 6-8; 9am – 3pm (before and after care available)

Campers ages 5-8 will learn about New Orleans architecture, music, artists, and more as they explore Creole Cottages, musical instruments, and masterpieces in this one-of-a-kind hands-on camp experience. Their spring break camp is scheduled for April 19, 22-23.


Madisonville Equestrian Center

March 4, 6-8; 9am-3:30pm (before and after care available)

Students ages 4-16 will participate in English Style Riding, Games on Horseback, Hands on involvement and instruction on proper use of tack, grooming techniques, and proper care for horse. Before and After Care Available from 7:30am – 9am and 3:30pm to 5pm. Adult riders are also welcome. Session one of their Spring Break camp is April 19; Session 2 is  April 22-26.


Mandeville Sports Complex

March 4, 6-8; 9am-3pm (before and after care available)

This Mardi Gras camp for ages 4-12 will offer group games, free play on the gymnastics floor, bounce house, outside activities, game room, and more. Their spring break camp is April 22-26.


Piece of Mind Academic Support Center (Mandeville)

April 23-25; 9am-2pm

This spring break camp is for children ages 7-12 who are on the spectrum, or could benefit from specialized instruction, will allow participants to explore the globe as they solve mysteries and learn about the people, culture, history, and geography of exciting countries.


Pony Tales (St. Rose – St. Charles Parish)

March 4, 6-8; 9am – 3pm (before and after care available)

This camp will allow kids, ages 5-12, the chance to get some horse and pony riding instruction, horsemanship instruction, plus they’ll participate in horse-related games and crafts. For details, email Kaye at or call 504-469-0148.


YMCA – East Jefferson (Metairie)

March 4, 6-8; 7:30am – 3:30pm (after care available)

The East Jefferson YMCA offers special holiday camps for ages 5-12 during school breaks. Activities include themed stories, songs, crafts and holiday decorations. Spring break camp is April 19 and April 22- April 26.


YMCA – West St. Tammany (Covington)

March 4, 6-8; 7am-6pm

Kids, ages pre-K – 4 and up, have the opportunity to play sports, make arts and crafts, and make new friends. School’s Out Camp offers a safe and engaging atmosphere. Campers must bring a lunch, water bottle and plenty of snacks. Discounted member rate. Spring Break Camp will be offered April 19  and April 22- April 26.


Xfusion Family Arena (Covington)

March 4, 6-8 ; 7am-4pm (aftercare available)

Activities for campers ages 4-12 include rock climbing, obstacle course, indoor zip line, tire wall races, group games, outdoor recreational games, arts and crafts, weekly themes, water days, in-house field trips, and more. They also invite kids ages 13-15 to participate as a CIT (Counselors In Training) for discounted cost. Spring Break camp is April 19, 22-26.
